Bradley® Childbirth Classes

The Bradley® Method is a system of natural labor techniques in which a woman and her coach play an active part. This approach is founded on the principle that appropriate education and preparation increases the likelihood that women neither need nor want pain medications (or most medical procedures) while giving birth.

Since the circumstances surrounding the birth of a baby profoundly influence the couple’s relationship, parenting confidence, and the foundations of the parent-baby relationship, the underlying philosophy of the Bradley Method is respect for the integrity of the natural birth process.

Bradley is a simple, thorough method of increasing self-awareness -- teaching you how to work with labor based on information about how the human body works during labor. The instructor, leads with a light-hearted and practical approach, and helps couples find what is comfortable for them in labor to reduce pain and make the labor more efficient.

Instead of seeking to control the sensations of labor with distraction methods, the Bradley method encourages you to trust your body using natural abdominal breathing combined with relaxation.

This series is 8 weeks long to include time for mental and physical preparation and practice, ways to stay healthy and low risk (which may help avoid later complications and allow for more options in labor), building confidence, education, improving relaxation skills, and preparing the coach with information and tools for an active role throughout the pregnancy and birth.

The class fee includes a workbook containing the class curriculum, study guides, vocabulary, and plenty of information.

Classes have a minimum of 3 and maximum of 8 couples to allow for optimal interaction with the material and other participants. We recommend scheduling this class to end by 35-37 weeks of gestation.
