Brooke Davis, PA-cPrenatal Yoga New Mom's Yoga Brooke leads Vinyasa Flow Yoga classes drawing from her background in Ashtanga and Iyengar yoga, using breathing as a foundation from which to flow, and incorporating the warmth of the Whole Birth Yoga approach. In her prenatal yoga classes, she encourages her students to explore their practice from within, guiding them to deeper self-awareness, preparedness, confidence and bonding with their baby. Brooke supports her students through their pregnancy and beyond by promoting relaxation and stress reduction while helping them gain core strength and agility. Combining her knowledge of western medicine and anatomy as a Physician Assistant (PA-c) in Orthopedics, with her knowledge of yoga and eastern medicine, her classes are grounded in promoting health and well-being in a way that is safe and appropriate to each student. Brooke was always fascinated with the human body and has studied anatomy extensively. After following the pre-med coursework and receiving her BA in Biology at UC Berkeley, she worked in the operating room at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, and completed her graduate work at Samuel Merritt College for her MS and state certification as a Physician Assistant. Currently working as a PA in Orthopedics at Kaiser, Brooke continuously expands her knowledge of the possibilities within the musculoskeletal system, learning effective ways to treat injuries and physical discomforts. In 2007, Brooke also began her studies in Chinese Medicine, Acupressure, and Asian Bodywork. She received her Asian bodywork and acupressure certificate in March 2009 and is eager to integrate her new knowledge into her current practice. Brooke has been practicing yoga since 1999 and feels very fortunate to have studied with many amazing teachers. She has completed teacher trainings with Mark Stephens and Erich Schiffmann, and currently studies both Iyengar yoga with Kofi Busia and Ashtanga yoga with various teachers. She received her Prenatal training from Robin Sale at Whole Birth Yoga, and is in the process of completing a teacher-training course taught by Kofi Busia. Other influential teachers include Phil Lynch, Tim Thompson, Kent Bond, Mark Stephens, Kelly Blaser, Adarsh and Heleen Williams, and Rusty Wells. See Brooke's website at www.arogyayoga.com. |
