Carrie Holmberg
Writing Your Birth Story

Carrie is a Harmony mom, and believes in the transformative power of writing. For ten years she has helped children, adolescents, and adults experience the power and insight that comes from engaging in the writing process.

Carrie has seen that when mothers are supported in writing their birth stories, magic happens. Mothers gain insight, power, a measure of release, and a sense of connection with others.

Carrie is a National Board Certified Teacher in the English Language Arts, and a Bay Area Writing Project Teacher Consultant. She also mentors new teachers at two innovative small high schools for Stanford University's "Teachers for a New Era." Three of her short essays have aired on KQED radio's "Perspectives" series.

A mother of two young children, Carrie understands the challenges mothers face in finding the time and energy to have, organize, or even finish their thoughts, let alone write them down.

Yet she feels when we write about our experiences, we honor ourselves and our lives. From the humble-jumble of life, we make meaning. This creative act, like the creative act of becoming a mother, keeps Carrie writing, and helping others to write.
