Tristen Haug, PA-cWhole Birth Prenatal Yoga Pure Prenatal Yoga Yoga for Moms Tristen’s passion for yoga began in a tiny studio in Virginia 22 years ago, when her teacher gave her a copy of Light On Yoga by BKS Iyengar and she knew that yoga would be a deep part of her life journey. Her passion about yoga (to yoke or make whole) is in part due to a deep understanding that the human body is complex and needs to be treated as a whole. Through her study and practice of yoga as well as that as a PA (Physician Assistant), she has witnessed the power of the mind-body connection and seen the incredible ability we have to heal ourselves through pranayama and yoga. Tristen Graduated from Stanford as a Physician Assistant in 1999, and has worked in Women's Health, UCSF Labor and Delivery and L&D Operating Room, Newborn Nursery, Primary Care, and Gastroenterology. Tristen completed yoga teacher training in 2001 at The Iyengar Center for Yoga in Seattle. She has practiced and studied various schools and traditions of yoga throughout the US and abroad including an internship at the Satchidananda Ashram in 1993. Her foundational training is Iyengar which progressed to studying Ashtanga, Ansuara, Vinyasa, Kali Ray Tri Yoga, Mother-Baby, and Prenatal. She draws a little from each of these traditions as appropriate to student needs, desires, and abilities for rich and rewarding classes. Her intention is that her students leave class feeling content, at peace and comfortable in their body. Tristen knows from experience how pregnancy can be one of the most challenging and exciting times in a woman's life and loves supporting expectant moms through their pregnancy physically, informationally, and emotionally. When leading Prenatal and Mom's classes, she draws on her own experiences of the joys and struggles of her own pregnancies, in addition to her training as a PA, Lactation Counselor, and Birthing From Within Mentor. She seeks to help expectant and new moms bond with their growing babies and realize the importance of nurturing themselves before they can care for others. To that end, each class begins by checking in with her students about their physical discomforts and needs, to customize each class to those attending. She strives to meet each student as the unique individual they are, honoring their journey through life, motherhood and more. Tristen is continuing her yoga journey by completing Mark Stephens Vinyasa teacher certification and Rainbow Kids Yoga with Gopala. Other influential teachers are Tim Thompson, Kofia Busia, Kent Bond, Michelle Duguay, Richard Rosen, and Jin Sun. Her sons Noah, 4, and Ezra, 2, are the joy and light in her life, and she feels grateful to have been able to attend prenatal yoga classes up to the day she delivered each! |
