Sign Along classes are Keiki's Corner's own fun & unique curriculum-- a series of weekly 45-minute sessions that bring together a spirit of meaningful play and learning time. This play-class is NOT like the other Signing classes - it was carefully crafted to incorporate signing and language development seamlessly into easy, engaging class and home activities that your child will love, while all of their language skills grow! This language-rich environment allows children and caregivers opportunities to learn and use sign through music, props, and enriching activities. Why Sign with your baby? Isn't this just trying to push babies to do too much too soon? Exactly the opposite. In fact, all parents learn through experience that babies can understand what we're saying long before they can speak the words themselves. Sign language enables your preverbal child to communicate their basic wants and needs successfully, significantly reducing frustration and crying (for both of you!) while their speech catches up with the thoughts they want to communicate. Some parents worry that babies who learn sign language will not develop verbal language skills as quickly, but the opposite is actually true. Studies show that babies who use sign language actually develop language skills earlier than their peers, and have an increased vocabulary. Play Series: Signs and activities change each series, so families can participate in sucessive classes as a fun, regular play class which also builds their skills, and connects you with a community of other signing children and families, to reinforce and encourage your child's learning and language growth! One-Time Workshop: Workshops are power sessions that offer an introduction and foundation in the SIGN with your BABY program and will equip parents, educators, and caregivers with valuable skills to increase communication and language development with children. Participants will learn some functional signs to offer a new, creative way to communicate; some creative activities to increase language development; and effective strategies to incorporate sign language into their daily routines. May be taken alone or as a precursor to the Sign with Your Baby Play Series. Minimum enrollment of 4, maximum 8. $35 per child + one caregiver $45 with 2 caregivers
