Get Some Sleep! For Babies 0 to 6 months Sleep Is a Basic Human Need. This workshop is 2 hours. Maximum enrollment of 15 families. ** Note on Bringing Children: Do what you feel will best allow you and the other participants to pay full attention and get the most out of attending this talk. If it is important for your baby to be with you at this time, babies are welcome, but may need to leave the room if you feel there is interference with the class. Dawn recommends not bringing children old enough to understand what is being said, so you, Dawn, and other parents may feel free to have adult conversation, ask open questions, and discuss the realities of their current challenges. All caregivers in a family are strongly encouraged to attend. If there is a grandparent or other caregiver present during the child's sleep times, please bring them! $30 per family - please indicate how many adults will attend, when registering.
Register Now The Sleep Problem: Many parents know the difficulties a sleep deficit can cause for them, including negative effects on mood, memory, concentration, and learning. Adults with young children in the home are also more likely to drive while drowsy, and the increased reaction-time is directly related to auto and other accidents and injuries. But what about the children? They need adequate sleep to learn, develop, and form attachments with their caregivers. A lack of sufficient sleep can delay developmental milestones for infants and toddlers as well as effect children’s performance in school, increase behavior problems, and hurt the building of social relationships. The National Sleep Foundation also finds that children’s sleep habits also cause moderate to significant stress on marriages/relationships, particularly for parents of infants. Developing healthy sleep habits should be one of the most immediate priorities for all families it is too important to every other aspect of our lives. More about Dawn Fry. |
